A medium to full-bodied wine with an expansive texture and fine ripe tannins. Aromas of dark fruit are complimented by notes of earth, tobacco and coffee.
The Maladière climat is located mid-slope at 300-320m with this 5ha plot of vines including some older than 50 years.

The 2019 Santenay La Maladière 1er Cru, from a large 5-hectare vineyard out of which Jadot selects the most propitious plots, is crisp and edgy on the nose, here offering darker fruit than the Clos de Malte and a light sea spray influence. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, a rounded texture and good depth. Red plum and cranberry sauce, and a little white pepper sprinkled over a quite tender finish. Recommended.

The 2019 Santenay 1er Cru Maladière (Domaine Prieur-Brunet) displays scents of raspberries, plums, warm spices and toasty oak. Medium-bodied, fleshy and flavorful, it's deep and nicely concentrated, concluding with youthfully chewy tannic grip. This is a fine proposition, though it will require a few year's patience.
