Planted during Prohibition in 1922 by a then 21-year-old Sadie Upton at 1500 feet in Plymouth, CA, the wines are perfumed and light to medium weight on the palate with a bright, uplifting acidity. Chunks of granite, quartz, and silica litter the vineyard, and make themselves most evident in the fine-grained, well-integrated tannins.

From vines planted in 1922, the 2017 Zinfandel Sadie Upton Vineyard is pale to medium ruby-purple in color with a nose of red cherries, blueberries, dried autumn leaves and soil hints. Medium to full-bodied, it has a red and blue fruit core with notes of coconut and earthy nuances, framed by grainy tannins and good freshness, finishing long and spicy. 175 cases produced.
