Currant, strawberry, cherry, floral and leafy flavors are the highlights of this racy, elegant red. Balanced on the firm side, with excellent length. Best from 2020 through 2032. 800 cases made, 400 cases imported.

Paitin's 2014 Barbaresco Serra Boella is light on its feet, gracious and lifted, all qualities that are best enjoyed sooner rather than later. Bright red cherry, tobacco, dried flowers and pine open up nicely in the glass. There is a good bit of tannin, but I suspect the fruit will dry out before those tannins soften. I expected to see a bit more depth. Today, the 2014 is decidedly ethereal and light, even within the context of the year. The 2014 spent 20 months in 30 to 50-HL casks.

This wine's camphor and toast aromas follow through to the bracing palate, along with raw sour cherry and espresso notes. Raspy tannins leave an astringent finish.
