The 2014 is a lighter vintage showing the red fruit spectrum of Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose tempts with notes of coconut, vanilla, raspberries and sweet spice. This leads to a polished, supple palate opening to hints of fine white chocolate. The richness of cranberries and morello cherry gives length while the salty liquorice edge offers freshness and elegance. Crunchy, red-fruited tannins melt into a soft, slightly creamy finish.

Ripe and energetic, with a juicy core of black currant, fig and blackberry fruit, carried by brambly tannins through the finish. Shows ample grip, but the fresh acidity is well-embedded. Should unwind nicely with brief cellaring. Drink now through 2018. 3,000 cases made.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon has a simple black fruit and tobacco scented bouquet that just comes across as "correct" but "conservative". The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a little harsh in terms of texture with a grippy but rather sour finish. I found much more quality on the 2013. This may have just been a bottle not performing on the day, hence the question mark against my score.
