This is from Pataille’s small parcel in Es Chezots; a very cool site at the top of the hill in the Combe du Pré, where the conditions have produced an ethereal wine, that is fragrant without being heavy. In 2019, the warm year also bestowed a rewardingly ripe cherry fruit and an earthy complexity. Drinking Window 2021 - 2029.

The 2019 Marsannay Rouge comes form domaine and purchased fruit from Pataille's father. Plenty of crunchy cranberry and strawberry fruit that soars from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with cranberry, raspberry and strawberry fruit, but its that chalky texture that really makes an impression. Very minerally on the finish.

A very fresh and quite cool nose freely offers up its array of red berries, earth and floral nuances. The sleek, delicious and impressively intense flavors culminate in a precise, focused and sneaky long finale. If this can add depth with a few years of bottle age, it could merit the upper end of my projected range. *Burghound Outstanding!*
